David Finckel, cello & Wu Han, piano

Caltech Public Events

David Finckel has performed on Coleman's stage 15 times: nine as the cellist of the Emerson String Quartet, and six with celebrated pianist Wu Han (including twice as a trio with Emerson violinist Philip Setzer). Why so often? As The Washington Post put it, they "explode on the stage, exuding not only glamour and theatrical flair, but also superb musical insight. The audience's thrill is twofold."As performing artists, leaders, advocates, and educators, the duo has had a profound impact on the music world.PROGRAM:Myaskovsky - Sonata No. 2 for Cello and Piano in A minor, Op. 81 (1948)Prokofiev - Sonata for Cello and Piano in C Major, Op. 119 (1949)Rachmaninoff - Sonata for Cello and Piano in G minor, Op. 19 (1901)▶︎ BUY TICKETSABOUT COLEMANFounded in 1904 by Alice Coleman (later Alice Coleman Batchelder), the Coleman Chamber Music Association is one of the oldest organizations in the United States dedicated to the presentation, understanding, and enjoyment of chamber music. For more information, please phone 626-793-4191 or email info@colemanchambermusic.org.$75, $65, $55, $45; discounts available for youth, Caltech/JPL, and series buyers
